Re: Goats at Logan Pass July 13th 2015

My friend and I went on the same hike that week. We walked off the boardwalk in the exact same spot so i could relieve myself. We saw what I believe was the same goat just above the snow. After i went on a rock, he came charging down the snow field, and ran after us, charging and chasing He stopped ...

Just moved back and available to hike if anyone is intereste

Hey all...just moved back to Whitefish. My job allows me to hike pretty much anyday. I'm up for pretty much anything including backpacking, fishing and dayhikes orpeaks. Have reliable transportation, gear and know the park well. If anyone needs a hiking partner, let me know :) Btw...thank you Dave f...

Anyone know about Tea Kettle Campground in Columbia Falls?

Hey all, I'm making the move back to Montana because of a new job. It came on sudden, so I'm looking for a place to camp for a couple weeks that's close to the airport. La Salle RV Park is 125 a week with showers. Tea Kettle is primitive, but I can't find any info on it. Such as price. Anybody have ...

Re: Looks like another tragedy in the park

As a long time employee of GPI I can promise you that there is always some form of competition/bravado among a group of employees at every lodge. No doubt the excitement, pressure to appear bold and courageous among their peers has an effect on decision making for these people. I personally have had...

2012 Trip. First time I took my kids.

Better late than never I guess. My kids are finally at that age where I can take them on stuff like this and have them "get it". We spent a week and a half at MGC and explored the park. Didn't do any backpacking this time, although they do go with me down here in the desert and that's what...

Re: Broadband coming to St. Mary

I think a lot of people miss the potential of having access to the internet in places like national parks or even the backcountry. You need to look past the idea of it being just a way to connect with other people, and think of it as access to information instead. Imagine being deep in the backcount...

July 17th - July 24th 2012

In July my family and I spent a full week in Glacier. We camped in the Many Glacier CG from July 17th to July 24th. It was my dad, brother, nephew, my two older boys and I. An all boys trip. We primarily hiked, fished and explored. The weather was great, a little warm and mixed with some dramatic th...

Re: Many Glacier CG Storage Bins

I don't think so but can't be sure. And they don't have them at every site, so you are not guaranteed to get one. Funny, I got on to check the exact moment you posted  Since I have only lived around the park and have barley used the car camping sites, I am stumped as what to do with electron...

Many Glacier CG Storage Bins

I can't remember if the storage bins in the Many Glacier Campground are able to be locked with a padlock. Anybody know?

Re: Early Morning & Evening Locations

I was going to mention Looking Glass Road as well. I'll go further and mention there is a dirt road right near the summit of the road that heads up to the right (east) if you are driving from East Glacier. The road brings you up to a high spot where there is an old structure and sweeping views of th...

Re: Glacier History

You know, I'm looking at that pic that says view from the summit of Rising Wolf and I'm starting to think it is Scenic Point. That marshy area at the bottom looks like the head of what is Lower Two Med lake now. But I dunno?

Re: East Side Daytrip & a Lil Hiking

Very much appreciate you posting the 49 section. I know every inch of that road, it is so great to see it in its current state. And as for us youngsters not knowin' anything about bluegrass. I'll just leave this here. Please Don't Feed the Bear - Edgar Meyer :D
