This week, Spokane anyway, high 60's and low 70's with rain and thunderstorms. Assuming this will move into the park, here comes the water.........

Given the option, I would chose something like gunsight lake far before gable. Maybe even upper two med lake. The trip in is dull until you get close and the views open. At one time, two of our locals supposidly held the speed record for this climb. That was a stop on the way back from Everest. John Roskelly and Chris Kopczynski. Back in the '80's I believe.

dang, I am getting nervous.....................missed out last year, first time in 16 years. We did the Mission Mntns outside Holland lake and it just wasn't the same. Good luck everyone!

I have done both routes and would agree with above, doesn't matter how you get there, it is where you stay at night that is the issue.

Did this hike a few years ago, one damned long day. The shortcut is very visible, but I have not done it so I can't suggest how to move down the east side once you cross.
